Spatial Planning and Urban Development Code

Spatial Planning and Urban Development Code

The Ministry of Environment and Energy has introduced the Spatial Planning and Urban Development Code, a landmark reform in Greece’s planning and construction law. With 477 articles, the Code consolidates and modernizes decades of fragmented legislation, abolishes outdated provisions, and streamlines procedures on spatial planning, urban regeneration, permitting, and building rules. Designed to enhance transparency, reduce bureaucracy, and align development with sustainability goals, the Code marks a decisive step toward a coherent and accessible planning framework.
