The ratification of the new Spatial and Urban Planning Code under Law 5306/2026 consolidates Greece's spatial and urban planning legislation into a single legislative instrument, bringing together 477 articles drawn from more than 180 legislative acts. While introducing no substantive legal changes, the Code aims to enhance legal certainty, improve accessibility, reduce administrative complexity, and promote the uniform application of the legal framework governing spatial planning and urban development.
