The European Commission has adopted a delegated regulation introducing targeted amendments to the CRR market risk framework as part of the EU’s implementation of the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB). The temporary measures, applicable from 2027 to 2029, aim to preserve a level playing field for EU institutions by introducing targeted adjustments to market risk capital requirements while maintaining the broader objective of implementing the Basel III framework. The amendments have important implications for regulatory capital, internal models, reporting, disclosure, and supervisory compliance.
